Central Otago is fast becoming known, alongside Oregon and Burgundy of course, for producing some of the worlds great Pinot Noirs. With its dramatic cool climate shaped by glaciers near the Southern Alps and high sunlight hours, there is always a certain purity to the wines from here. Akitu means "summit" in Maori in reference to this stunning landscape, and the dedication this winemaking team have to both the region and Pinot Noir is undeniable - their entire 6 ha estate is made up purely from this grape. It's stunning.
