REGION: Alentejo, Portugal
VARIETIES: Trincadeira, Aragonez, Castelao
Portugal is like Italy when it comes to grape varieties: so many that are almost unheard of anywhere else, yet each offers their own unique flavours and aromas. Alentejo is a less-heralded region of Portugal, and therefore offers excellent value. But in the right hands, the region is still very capable of producing some gems. This is just one such example: bright, fresh, and very quaffable.
