INFO: Established in 1871, San Silvestro has produced DOC and DOCG wines from its estate winery in the Commune of Novello, in Piedmont.
Nebbiolo, the noble variety from Piedmont, gets the name from ‘pruina’, a substance found on the skins of the berries that makes them look as though they are covered by fog.
The wine was aged for 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, imparting complexity and rounding out the tannins.
A palate of ripe red cherries and spicy notes, typical of the Nebbiolo grape. The varietal fruit flavours and vanilla overtones lead to an elegant, lingering finish.
